MAT-2.2 - Waste Stream Audit of Ongoing Consumables and development of an Operational Waste and Materials Management Plan
Erratum Number

Reference document attached: Green Star EBP - Waste Stream Audit Protocol
Guidance:
1. Where the technical manual states that "Where possible this can be done by the waste management contractor provided that the data is directly linked to the project building...", this means that while the waste management contractor can carry out the audit in terms of the credit requirements, the data must be linked to the project building, meaning the data cannot be an extrapolation of general waste stream data from an external sorting facility.
2. Where the TM states "where no accurate waste stream data can be obtained from waste management contractors, the waste audit must be carried out on site..." this means in the case where the waste management contractor cannot provide waste stream data of waste contained in general waste, an audit must be carried out on site.
3. Only where 100% of all waste generated on site is diverted from landfill, ie where the project does not send any waste to landfill, can the waste stream data be considered accurate and a waste stream audit would not be necessary. Where less than 100% of all waste generated on site is diverted from landfill, a once-off full waste stream audit is a necessity to establish appropriate plans and strategies.
