Guidance
UPDATED 2021-06-06 (2016-08-12)
Transportation Modes Survey:
In order to achieve 1 point for Transportation Modes Survey, project teams must comply with all of the credit criteria per the Technical Manual, including the Transportation Modes Survey, Population and Sample Size sections of the credit criteria, and where the qualitative & detailed surveying is done and the correct sample size is achieved.
(The Transportation Modes Survey must be structured in a way that respondents can provide detail of their commute pattern over the full week period and must provide the opportunity for qualitative answers.)
Green Travel Plan (GTP) - Regular Occupants and Visitors:
In order to achieve the points for the GTP the project teams must comply with all the credit criteria per the Technical Manual. This part can be targeted/achieved independently, irrespective of the other points being targeted/achieved, but the survey results from the Transportation Modes Survey & the status quo are required to be detailed within the GTP.
(The Transportation Modes Survey must be structured in a way that respondents can provide detail of their commute pattern over the full week period and must provide the opportunity for qualitative answers.)
The survey responses assist with the drafting of the Green Travel Plan. Where the additional 1 point for Improved Transportation Modes Performance: Improvements on Baseline is targeted, the 1 point for a Transportation Modes Survey has to be targeted and awarded.

The following guidance is given regarding how many surveys may be done in order to achieve the required sample size;
One survey result is required for the transportation modes survey in order to eliminate any repetition to achieve the required sample size as per table TRA-1.1 Sample Size Determination.
If the survey does not achieve the minimum amount it may be redone or reissued as many times in order to achieve the required sample size within the performance period BUT the results cannot be combined to achieve the required sample size.
